Nylon coating
Siltech Industries is possibly the only company in New Zealand applying Rilsan® Nylon 11 commercially.
Rilsan® Nylon 11 is an exceptionally hardwearing coating that looks like powder coating, but is actually a high molecular weight thermoplastic polymer, which is melted on. Nylon works at moderate temperatures (70°C).
Benefits of nylon coatings
-
Protection. The nylon coating provides excellent protection against corrosion, UV, ozone, cathodic disbonding, salt spray, chemicals and a range of solvents and hydrocarbons.
-
Long service life. Nylon coatings are long-lasting and have good weather resistance:
-
Abrasion resistance. Nylon coatings also have excellent abrasion resistance and low moisture absorption.
-
Impact resistance. Good impact resistance, providing 13 times more resistance than PVC; 50 times more resistance than polyethelene; and 250 times more resistance than oven-cured paints.
-
Hygienic. Rilsan® Nylon 11 is certifiable in many countries that require conformity to drinking water regulations.
